CSA: SWD Cricket appoints Merlin Masimela as KFC Mini Cricket Coordinator

Cricket South Africa (CSA) governs cricket in South Africa. Formed in 2002, it succeeded the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCB) and became the sole governing body in 2008. CSA oversees all levels of cricket, including national teams for men and women, and is a full ICC member and SASCOC affiliate.

South Western Districts has appointed Mr Merlin Masimela as the new KFC Mini Cricket Coordinator at the company. 

Masimela, who hails from Oudtshoorn, matriculated at Langenhoven Gymnasium in Oudtshoorn and obtained a Sports Management Diploma via Boston City Campus.  He brings a wide variety of skills and expertise to the company. 

As a cricketer he represented South Western Districts Cricket at youth age group levels and also represented the union in 7 First Class- and 16 List A matches between 2007 and 2010. The 36-year-old Masimela has extensive experience in coaching various provincial representative age group teams. 

“We are delighted to have Mr Masimela in our staff component. He will be a big asset to our ambitious organization and will bring new blood to our biggest grass roots cricket development program”, said Gary Moos, the Cricket Services Manager of SWD Cricket. He took office on 1 May 2023.
