Luxolo (Lux) Qoboshiyana, who passed away on Friday, March 26 after a short illness, started his cricketing career as a player and then moved on to helping to grow the game in the Eastern Cape.

He played provincial cricket for Border (non-racial) until unity.

He was involved in the 1991 unity talks between the South African Cricket Union (SACU) and the South African Cricket Board (SACB).

After that he served as Convenor of Selectors for Border for two seasons and was acting Convenor of Selectors for Warriors for two seasons.

He was also an independent national selector for Cricket South Africa.

“The thoughts of the board of Eastern Cape Cricket and those of all our players and officials are with the family of Lux.

“He was a passionate supporter of the game and will be sorely missed,” says the acting chairman of Cricket Eastern Cape (Warriors), Donovan May.
