In commemoration of this year’s Women’s Month, Cricket South Africa (CSA) will be hosting a webinar on Thursday, 18 August between 14h00-15h00 (SAST) featuring some of the leading women from different sectors in the South African cricket community.

The captivating virtual gathering will be aimed at discussing the importance of South Africa hosting the two major ICC events; the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup, followed closely by the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup in January and February next year.

The event will also mark 150 days to go until the first ball of the U19 tournament is bowled.

On the panel will be South Africa U19 and National Academy head coach, Dinesha Devnarain, former Proteas Women’s captain and CSA Match Referee, Shandré Fritz and Lauren Agenbag, who stood in this year’s ICC Women’s World Cup final in New Zealand at the age of 25.

Moderated by former CSA Media Manager and now ICC Assistant Media Manager, Sipokazi

Sokanyile, the esteemed guests will be joined by international broadcaster, Natalie Germanos, CSA Marketing lead, Kimberly Lugube, and communications specialist, Lerato Malekutu-Zondi. The panellists will discuss a wide range of topics, including CSA’s state of readiness as the host nation, the acceleration and development of women’s cricket, and how CSA aims to showcase the action for the South African public.

Sokanyile commented on the importance of the two events;

“I am delighted to be a part of this special event. South African cricket is home to so many inspirational women who work around the clock to help bring the game not only to the country, but the rest of the world.

“Cricket South Africa’s hosting of these two ICC events is a massive coup for the African continent. There’s no bigger stage where they can showcase the diverse cultures, talent on hand and ability to host world-class events.

“We have a wide variety of important topics to cover in a short period of time, but I hope that our audience goes away with renewed excitement for the events, fresh perspective on what it takes to put such a massive undertaking together and even more respect and support for the women’s game, which has grown exponentially in the last five years and the women that come with it.”
