Cricket West Indies (CWI) governs cricket across the West Indies, a confederation of Caribbean countries. Originally established as the West Indies Cricket Board of Control in the 1920s, it became the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) in 1996 and was rebranded as Cricket West Indies in May 2017 as part of a restructuring effort.

Joel Wilson is looking forward to being part of the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee. The international umpire was appointed as the Elite Panel Umpire on the committee at the ICC’s Board Meeting in Dubai recently. The 55-year-old welcomed the opportunity and says he sees it as a significant step, and he is keen to make a positive contribution.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be selected by your peers to represent the fraternity on such an important committee. The committee is designed to improve all aspects of the game, particularly the rules, regulations, laws, and playing conditions. Over the next year I look forward to working the other members of the committee in the attempt to improve all aspects of cricket … and I hope to make a more than positive impact”

Wilson is the most experienced umpire presently in the West Indies. He first officiated in international cricket in 2011. So far, he has stood in 28 Test matches, 75 One-Day Internationals and 39 T20 Internationals.

In its communique the ICC also outlined that ICC Board approved and ratified the appointments of Mahela Jayawardena as Past Player representative (reappointment), Gary Stead – National Team Coach representative, Jay Shah – Member Board representative and Jamie Cox – MCC Representative.
