West Indies Women’s captain Stafanie Taylor played a key role in guiding Tornadoes to the Fairbreak Global Invitational title, as they beat Falcons in Sunday’s final at Dubai International Stadium. The level-headed right-hander stroked an unbeaten 34 off 30 balls as Tornadoes chased down a target of 152 with five balls to spare. New Zealand opener Sophie Devine top-scored with 51 from 35 balls while her Dutch team-mate Sterre Kalis punched 44 from 41 balls.

Taylor, the Tornadoes skipper, had earlier sent down four controlled overs of off-spin to help restrict Falcons to 151-4 from their 20 overs after they were sent in. The innings was going nowhere at 59-4 in the 10th over before South Africa right-hander Marizanne Kapp arrived at six to lash a pulsating 67 from 32 balls, including half-dozen fours and two of sixes.

In the third place play-off West Indies allrounder Deandra Dottin hit a dashing century. The powerful opener made 111 off 53 balls with nine sixes as the Barmy Army Team scored 183-6 off their 20 overs. They were however outplayed by Spirit Women who replied with 183-4 off 18.5 overs. Sophia Dunkley was the leading batter with a match-winning 123 not out off 73 balls, which including 18 fours and three sixes.
