With the domestic cricket season shifting focus to the upcoming inaugural edition of the Betway SA20, a number of Hollywoodbets Dolphins stars will be representing the various franchises in the competition starting on 10 January.

The first match will be a Western Cape derby between MI Cape Town and the Paarl Royals with both sides having Dolphins representation in their respective squads.

Grant Roelofsen was selected into the MI Cape Town squad during the auction, a side that will be led by Afghanistan star Rashid Khan.

In the Winelands, Dave Miller will lead the Paarl Royals for the competition while Dolphins all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo was the team’s wild card pick for the tournament.

Durban’s Super Giants have a strong Dolphins flavour with Prenelan Subrayen and Keshav Maharaj in the squad while former Dolphins Lance Klusener and Jonty Rhodes form part of the coaching staff.

The Pretoria Capitals begin their competition against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape side on Thursday, 12 January and a number of Dolphins could line up in that clash.

For the Capitals Eathan Bosch and Daryn Dupavillon are in their squad while there are four Dolphins in the Sunrisers squad.

Jon-Jon Smuts, Marques Ackerman, Ottniel Baartman and SJ Erwee are amongst the players set to turn out for the side from Gqeberha.

Dolphins head coach Imraan Khan is excited by the prospect of his players rubbing shoulders with players from other provinces and countries.

“The SA20 is an exciting addition to the South African cricketing landscape, and we are looking forward to seeing our Dolphins players thrive in different environments,” Khan said.

“The competition will only see South African cricket benefit and it’s going to be a great addition to our season and we’re looking forward to welcoming the players back after the tournament.”

CEO of KZN Cricket Heinrich Strydom feels that the Dolphins players will benefit from the experience.

“With some of the world’s best players coming to our venues it gives the Dolphins players a chance to learn and grow as players,” Strydom said.

“The opportunities for these players to get noticed on an international stage is unprecedented and we wish our players well for the competition.

“We’re also excited to welcome fans to Kingsmead Stadium for what promises to be an exciting tournament.”
