The Hollywoodbets Dolphins and the RPSG Sports, Management of Durban’s Super Giants (DSG), met recently as the Durban-based team welcomed the SA20 franchise Management to Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium.
Durban’s Super Giants are one of the six franchises for the upcoming SA20 T20 competition starting in January 2023 and the Indian-based Management were in Durban to meet with the KZN Cricket Union, KZN Cricket major stakeholders and link up with new signing Prenelan Subrayen.
CEO of KZN Cricket Heinrich Strydom provided RPSG Sports CEO, Mr. Vinod Bisht, Vice-President, Mr. Avinash Vaidya and Deputy General Manager Ms. Navneet Kaur Dang with a Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium tour, a meeting with the Indian consulate as well as assistance in touring hotels in Durban to help find a base for the team during the competition.
The first ball of SA20 will be bowled on 10 January 2023 and for Strydom, he’s excited to see the competition take shape.
“It has been phenomenal to spend some time with the RPSG Sports Management who also have a successful team, the Lucknow Super Giants in the prestigious IPL, and with that they certainly bring a wealth of knowledge to our shores,” Strydom said.
“We are excited to forge a close relationship moving forward, we want to urge KwaZulu-Natal to get behind Durban’s Super Giants and come through to Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium to cheer them on.
“It’s been a busy off-season for the team at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead and by the time the competition starts the stadium will be primed for some exciting cricket.
“To have local legend Lance Klusener, coach the team and local Hollywoodbets Dolphins players Keshav Maharaj, Prenelan Subrayen and former Hollywoodbets Dolphins star Kyle Abbott part of the squad, will add an exciting local flavour to the squad.”
RPSG Sports CEO, Mr Vinod Bisht echoed the same sentiments as KZN Cricket CEO, Heinrich Strydom. RPSG Sports are delighted to bring their Super Giants brand to an International market. Durban’s Super Giants are looking forward to building a fan base in South Africa and across the globe.
Their meeting with the Consul General of India, Dr. Thelma John David was positive and she was thrilled with the opportunity of Durban’s Super Giants investment in the local league which inturn would help boost the Durban economy.
