Position Purpose
The Eastern Cricket Association (ECA) is excited to advise that we will be employing our first full-time staff member in advance of Season 2024/25.

The ECA is the peak body for over sixty (60) cricket clubs across a major portion of metropolitan Melbourne and is affiliated with the Victorian Metropolitan Cricket Union (VMCU).

The General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the ECA, and this will include oversight of all competitions under the ECA banner i.e. seniors – women and men, mixed juniors, girls, veterans and T20.

The Executive seeks a person to drive the delivery of our new Strategic Plan which includes continuing a strong connection with our Member Clubs and to drive innovation in our competitions.

Key Responsibilities
Executive
1. Prepare and update key corporate documents – Strategic Plan, Annual Report.
2. Financial management – all accounts payable and receivable.
3. Prepare and lodge Annual Statement by Public Officer.
4. Prepare Rule Book/s (Administration Rules and Playing Rules).
5. Prepare an Events Calendar.
6. Coordinate meetings, functions and forums when required.
7. Support and deliver the sponsorship program.
8. Manage all aspects of Working with Children Checks, any live streaming and image consent for Frog Box, social media content.
9. Manage and prepare any relevant policies for the Association.
10. Function as a spokesperson on ECA matters as required.

Meetings
Coordinate meetings including agendas and minutes as required, specifically for the following meetings:
a. Executive meetings
b. Club Delegate & President’s meetings.
c. Pre-AGM & AGM
d. Post Season Reviews and surveys.

People
1. Consult with and support all Committee Chairs.
2. Liaise with Local Council’s and personnel.
3. Liaise with ECA Representative Coordinator on all matters affecting the ECA Junior Representative Program.
4. Co-ordinate statistical information for awards.
5. Liaise with Umpires Association on all umpiring matters – Player reports, fines, email notifications, suspect bowling referrals, T20 competition, Officials HQ admin support, Website & Facebook content, umpire info, meetings – agenda items & topics for discussion, adverse weather ground inspections.
6. Consult with ECA’s VMCU representative.
7. Liaise with Cricket Victoria, where appropriate, on CA and CV initiatives as they affect the ECA.
8. Liaise with apparel supplier to organise all Executive and Representative Team Apparel.

Communication
1. Responsible for all official executive communications to member clubs.
2. Resolve all club related issues with missing match results, scorecards, and disputed results. Refer to the executive for resolutions as necessary.
3. Copy members of the executive into any relevant communications – e.g., game disputes, club issues, general enquiries, player suspensions & penalties, both on the initial correspondence and any subsequent responses.
4. Provide a summary of all incoming and outgoing correspondence as an Agenda item at forthcoming executive meetings.
5. Liaise with our Communication consultants on all website and social media content.

Competition Management – General
1. Oversee match day administration including the adverse weather conditions policy.
2. Coordinate reprimands, reports and tribunal process and maintain register of reprimands and reports on the website.
3. Coordinate Rule Change proposals.
4. Manage finals qualifications.
5. Coordinate Presentations night including venue, trophies, presentations, slideshows etc.
6. Coordinate Spirit of Cricket award.
7. Coordinate periodic administrative report including all fines and distribute report to clubs.

Competition Management – Play HQ
1. Setup and ongoing maintenance of Play HQ system.
2. Respond to club queries including locking and unlocking of scorecards.
3. Document and communicate club deadlines for entering information.
4. Coordinate media reporting.
5. Manage Clearances, Transfers & Permits. Requests that do not comply with ECA Rules, to be referred to the Executive for determination.
6. Prepare and distribute to clubs at the end of each month a listing of all fines incurred.

Qualifications & Experience, Accountability and Conditions of Employment
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
1. Professional sport’s management experience (5+ years)
2. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Organisational and time management skills.
4. Experience in financial management.
5. Knowledge of the game of Cricket and experience in Cricket administration and fixturing including using the PlayHQ and OfficialsHQ software.

Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications – Degree in Sports Management or similar.
2. Experience in dealing with Local Government Authorities.
3. Media skills and experience.
4. MYOB experience.

Accountability
This position reports to and is accountable to the ECA President and the Executive.

Conditions of the Employment Agreement
The position is in accordance with the terms and relevant industrial award. The successful applicant is required to complete a Police Check and Working with Children Check as per Victorian Government Legislation.

The availability to work a 5-day week plus flexible/extended hours including seasonal “peak & trough” workloads as required, to meet the demands of the role and commensurate to the level of the position.

An appropriate salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, as a guide, a total employment package of $80k per annum inclusive of superannuation is envisaged.
