This December, ECB Charity Partners Chance to Shine, Lord’s Taverners and the MCC Foundation are all taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

You can double the difference you can make this Christmas – with donations made to the charities before 12pm (midday) on Tuesday 10th December being doubled by Big Give.

Each charity has their own Big Give campaign page and more information on each can be found below.

Chance to Shine – Street Cricket in London

Through their Big Give campaign, Chance to Shine are proving cricket isn’t just for summer. The charity are seeking support to fund 14 of their Street cricket clubs in London. Street cricket is a fast, inclusive and exciting version of the game. The two-hour, weekly sessions run all year round and they are free for participants, with players needing no kit or equipment. The aim is to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of inactive young people who face increased barriers (cost, discrimination, accessibility) to playing sport.

£20 doubled to £40 provides a safe space to run a Street session for an hour

£40 doubled to £80 allows two Street coaches to support 20 young people for a two hour session

£75 doubled to £150 would enable a Street cricketer to be trained as a Foundation 1 coach

£250 doubled to £500 funds a Street club for 6 weeks

£500 doubled to £1,000 pays for a full day Street cricket tournament

MCC Foundation – Empowering young people globally through cricket

Through match funding this Christmas, the MCC Foundation stands to raise an incredible £80,000 which will support its free-to-access cricket Hubs in the UK (for state school cricketers) and its inspiring cricket projects around the world, providing transformational opportunities to thousands of children.Their projects empower young people to reach their full potential, unite and inspire communities and promote positive mental and physical wellbeing.

£30 can give 1 child in the UK 10 hours of free coaching

£250 pays for an hour of expert coaching for 80 promising cricketers in the UK

£500 pays for 25 overseas beneficiaries to qualify as ICC accredited coaches

Lord’s Taverners – Wicketz – Increasing Access for Women and Girls

This Christmas the Lord’s Taverners is looking to raise funds that help them ensure every young woman and girl feels like they belong in cricket. Wicketz uses cricket as a vehicle for social change and gives young people aged 8-19 who face a lack of equitable opportunities the chance to realise their potential; both on and off the pitch; by embedding community cricket ‘hubs’ in disadvantaged areas, and offering free, year-round cricket sessions.

With your help, the charity aims to help more young women and girls access the game and all its personal development opportunities, while contributing towards the game’s goal of becoming the UK’s most inclusive team sport.

£20 doubled to £40 could cover the cost of hiring a cricket facility for a week

£90 doubled to £180 could provide a year’s worth of cricket sessions for a female participant

£250 doubled to £500 could allow five girls to attend a girls-only Wicketz residential

Your support for the ECB’s incredible charity partners would be hugely appreciated. A reminder that for Big Give to double any donations, they need to be made before 12pm (midday) on Tuesday 10th December.
