A 12-man England Lions squad has been named for the four-day match against Sri Lanka at Visit Worcestershire New Road.

Kasey Aldridge, Lyndon James, Ollie Price and James Rew are due to join a strong squad after they were all part of the England Lions set-up during the winter.

England Men Under-19s quartet Farhan Ahmed, Eddie Jack, Ben McKinney and Hamza Shaikh are also included after the recent Young Lions home series against Sri Lanka.

Gloucestershire’s Zaman Akhter, who is a graduate of the South Asian Cricket Academy, earns his first call-up to the Lions. The match begins on Wednesday 14 August.

England Men’s Performance Director, Ed Barney, said: “We’ve selected an exciting squad which brings a balance of exceptionally high-potential cricketers and proven performance. This selection follows on from the First-Class County fixture early in the summer where some of the brightest talent excelled against the West Indies.”

“I have every confidence that we will continue to see these players enjoy, thrive and excel in the international arena, which for some will be their first full England Lions exposure.”

England Lions Head Coach, Mike Yardy, said: “It’s an exciting opportunity for the players selected to compete individually and as a team against an international opposition.”
