England U19s men’s team will host West Indies this summer in a Royal London U19 series consisting of six ODIs.

ECB Elite Pathway Coach Richard Dawson will coach the team, the Young Lions’ first fixture since the 2020 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.

ECB Performance Director, Mo Bobat, said: “With no international U19 cricket having been played for well over a year now, we’re really looking forward to our U19 men’s team getting back to action, in what should be an exciting and competitive series against West Indies.

“The opportunity for our best young players to test themselves against their international peers is a key foundation of their development and an important contributor to future international success. We’re also looking ahead to the next U19 World Cup which is due to be held in early 2022 and so it’s important that we can start building towards that event.

“It’s been fantastic to see so many of the U19 players who took part in the 2018 and 2020 tournaments in action across The Hundred and the Royal London Cup over recent weeks. Through those experiences, and the challenges that we aim to provide nationally, we give ourselves a good chance of further enhancing our depth of talent for England.

“It’s great that we can continue to be at the forefront of cricket’s return from COVID-19 and we’re incredibly grateful that Cricket West Indies have committed to sending their U19 team over to us this summer.”
