About the job
It is a time of great change across the world of sport, and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is at a critical juncture in its own development around equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). We know that cricket plays a transformative role in society, positively impacting communities across the country in many ways. At its core, the game is one that people from diverse communities can watch, play, and enjoy, and we are taking proactive action around EDI to create a game that belongs to us all.
As the national governing body for all cricket in England and Wales, we are committed to making cricket a game for everyone, and to do so sustainably. We are, therefore, seeking a new Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Director to join us to shape and deliver a range of exciting and critical initiatives in this space. They will build on our achievements relating to EDI, and provide the leadership, strategic ownership, and expert insights to deliver significant impact across the breadth of the cricketing landscape.
This is an exciting opportunity for an EDI professional looking for new challenges on a national level. We have real ambition to evolve the sport, and we want someone who can match our aspirations. You will relish the opportunity to collaborate with a broad set of stakeholders, design new approaches, embed key processes and procedures, and deliver targeted strategies that will bring about systemic transformation in cricket. Comfortable operating at the highest levels and in an environment prone to media scrutiny, you will be confident in providing evidence, challenging the status quo, and recommending solutions and objectives that positively impact what we do internally, externally, and commercially.
This role offers a unique platform for the right person to expand the ECB’s ability to lead on all matters concerning EDI and set benchmarks and standards for others to measure their own progress in this area against. To facilitate this, the EDI Director will inspire and secure the confidence of a wide array of stakeholders, demonstrating the ECB’s professional expertise and encouraging positive change across the nation and more widely.
The ECB welcomes applications from all backgrounds to ensure we deliver our Inspiring Generations strategy and fulfil our purpose to connect communities and improve lives through cricket. You do not need to come from a sports background but will appreciate the platform this role affords for change.
