Pakistan may have broken their home losing streak against England this month, but this win does little to address deeper issues within the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) administrative systems.

Jason Gillespie, Pakistan’s Head Coach across all formats, previously disclosed that he was instructed not to participate in selection decisions. The exclusion of the Head Coach from team selection discussions is an unusual practice, especially at the international level, and highlights Pakistan cricket’s unique approach to its affairs.

Recently, Gary Kirsten resigned as Pakistan’s white-ball Head Coach. Surprisingly, Kirsten never coached Pakistan in an ODI before his departure.

Reportedly, ongoing interference from PCB management in team affairs contributed to his decision to step down. Amid this turmoil, a tweet from Harbhajan Singh on Instagram has gone viral, where he advised Kirsten not to waste his time in Pakistan.

“Don’t waste ur time there Gary .. Come back to Coach Team INDIA .. Gary Kirsten One of the rare 💎.. A Great Coach, Mentor, Honest nd very dear friend to all in the our 2011 Team .. our winning coach of 2011 worldcup . Special man Gary ❤️ @Gary_Kirsten.”

Following Kirsten’s exit, an X (formerly Twitter) user reposted Harbhajan’s tweet, prompting a humorous response from Harbhajan.
