THE HOBART HURRICANES ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE BBL|09 PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT.

HOBART HURRICANES BBL PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT

Winner: D’Arcy Short

Finalists: Nathan Ellis, Clive Rose, Matthew Wade

After nearly missing a third of BBL|09 due to his call up the National ODI Squad, D’Arcy Short was the Hurricanes leading run scorer with a total of 357 off just 272 balls. His talent extended beyond his batting when he produced astounding bowling figures of 5-21.

Hobart Hurricanes Head Coach Adam Griffith had this to say about the Player of the Tournament:

“Short has once again had a very big BBL season for the Hurricanes which culminated in his 100 runs for us in Perth from where he was then rewarded with selection for Australia.

His consistency at the top of the order continually gets us away to good starts and his greatest strength is his ability to bat through the innings and win games of cricket.

D’Arcy’s leg spin as also become an important part of our bowling group, highlighted by his five wickets against the Sydney Thunder.”
