The traditional Christmas Eve Big Bash match at Blundstone Arena is returning this summer to headline an exciting seven-match home fixture for the Hobart Hurricanes in Tasmania.

With the League announcing its intention to return to a full home and away schedule for KFC BBL|11 – a season that will see a full 56 games played across the country in a condensed period of just 46 days – the highlight of the fixture for Tasmanian sports fans will undoubtedly be the return of the festive December 24 match against the Melbourne Stars.

The Hurricanes will open their Big Bash campaign at University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston on December 8, when they take on reigning champions the Sydney Sixers, and – in good news for families – play a further three of their home fixtures at Blundstone Arena over the Christmas-New Year period. An additional match will be played in Launceston over the summer, with all other home matches played at Blundstone Arena.

Once again, the tournament will feature a five-match Finals series, scheduled to begin on January 21, with The Eliminator, The Qualifier and The Knockout taking place across three consecutive nights. The Challenger follows on January 26, with The Final on Friday, January 28, ensuring an action-packed summer holidays featuring stars from across Australia and around the world.

The League has also lifted the BBL contracting embargo from today allowing clubs to complete their lists for the season, including securing the signatures of up to three international players in their 18-player squads.

Cricket Australia will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation throughout the summer and prioritise the health and safety of fans, players, staff and officials in all its decisions.
