The Hobart Hurricanes are pleased to announce the re-signing of Belinda Vakarewa and Chloe Tryon for the Rebel WBBL|06 season.
Belinda Vakarewa returns to the Hurricanes with a new two-year deal after her breakout performance in last year’s WBBL|05 as the leading wicket taker for the squad.
Belinda mentioned how easy of a decision it was for her to sign on after the season she had last year.
“I really love the culture, the team and all the girls,” she said. “I had the most fun that I’ve ever had both on and off the field and it was a great opportunity for me.”
“I think we were unlucky to miss out on a couple of wins last season, but some of the new players we’ve signed are amazing cricketers so there’s definitely a high chance we can perform well.”
Head coach Salliann Briggs talked about the resilience that Belinda showed in the WBBL|05 and how she delivered a world class performance.
“She has everything necessary as an opening and death bowler.”
“I can’t wait to see what she’s got for us this coming season,” she said. “She is always playing with a smile on her face and is a superstar as a team player.”
The Hurricanes will also be welcoming back South African international big hitter, Chloe Tryon.
Head coach Salliann Briggs spoke of how it was a no brainer to bring Chloe back to Hobart.
“Chloe is a genuine match winner and gives you the feeling that you are always in the game, she makes things happen.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever worked or seen anyone who can hit a ball like she does,” she said. “I’ve got a sneaky feeling she could surprise a few people with the ball in hand too.”
