The Hobart Hurricanes have confirmed that 22-year-old pace bowler, Iain Carlisle, has secured the team’s final domestic contract for KFC BBL|12.

The right arm quick is also a contracted Tasmanian Tigers squad member and has had an impressive start to his 2022-23 season.

He took 12 wickets at an average of 16.83 in Queensland Cricket’s KFC T20 Max competition in August when representing Gold Coast District Cricket Club, including best figures of 3-5.

Representing North Hobart in the Wilson Homes Cricket Tasmania Premier League, in the season thus far Carlisle has taken 15 wickets at an average of 12.

Carlisle said he was thrilled at the prospect of making his Big Bash League debut.

“I’m really excited to have a fully-fledged Hurricanes contract for the first time,” Carlisle said.

“I’ve been involved in the tournament before, during COVID times as a member of a local replacement player pool, but that was a bit of an extraordinary situation, so I’m looking forward to being a part of a team from the season’s start to finish.

“I’m obviously used to training with a lot of these guys with the Tigers, so that’s great, but it will be great to learn from the internationals and some of the other players who will come into the set up, and I’m also really looking forward to working with James Hopes as our bowling coach.”

Carlisle joins Asif Ali (o/s), Faheem Ashraf (o/s), Zak Crawley (o/s replacement player), Tim David, Paddy Dooley, Nathan Ellis, Caleb Jewell, Shadab Khan (o/s), Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Jimmy Neesham (o/s replacement player), Mitch Owen, Joel Paris, Wil Parker, D’Arcy Short, Billy Stanlake, Chris Tremain, Matthew Wade and Mac Wright as Hurricanes currently signed for BBL|12.

The Hurricanes BBL|12 campaign starts next week, when they take on the Melbourne Stars at the MCG on Friday 16 December.
