A signing that will thrill all Hurricanes fans – Chris Jordan will be back in Hobart for BBL|14 and BBL|15 following the Hurricanes signing the English superstar as their multi-year overseas player.

Jordan, the Hurricanes Platinum pick in the BBL|13 Draft, won Hobart Hurricanes BBL Player of the Season and scored the fastest fifty for the entire competition off only 17 balls in his first season in purple.

After living up to his reputation as one of the most exciting performers in T20 cricket, Jordan is excited to return to Hobart for two more BBL campaigns.

I really enjoyed my time in Hobart and I’m looking forward to returning for the next two years and building on a lot of the good things we did last season.

I’m excited to work with such a talented group again and hopefully bring a title to Hobart,” discussed Jordan.

Jordan is a veteran of T20 cricket, having been a sought-after figure in countless T20 competitions around the world, and would be seen honing his craft as the ultimate professional during training sessions and before games.

Having played for five different BBL franchises throughout his career, the Adelaide Strikers, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder, and now the Hobart Hurricanes, Jordan will be one of the Hurricanes’ most experienced players.

Jordan’s international cricket career has seen him play eight tests for England, but the shorter form of the game is where he has found success.

A highly skilled death bowler, Jordan has played in 35 ODIs and 94 T20Is for England and is second in the overall wicket tally for England in T20Is, with 105 wickets, only trailing Adil Rashid.

His lower-order batting is one of the most underrated components of his game, and this was evident for the Hurricanes in their second matchup for the year against the Scorchers.

Coming to the crease at 6-103, Jordan showed all Hurricanes fans his batting power, scoring 59 (including 6 fours and 5 sixes) off 20 balls, helping the score to a reasonable 8-172.

By the end of BBL|13, he finished second on the Hurricanes wicket-taking list with nine wickets to go with 133 runs at a strike rate of 164.2.

Currently, Jordan is playing for England in the T20 WC and has performed magnificently in their crucial Super Eights matchup against the USA, taking 4/10 (including a hat-trick) to help England to a Semi-Final berth.

Hurricanes List Manager and General Manager of High Performance at Cricket Tasmania discussed why the Hurricanes looked to bring Jordan back to Hobart as part of the multi-year overseas contract.

CJ was our top priority to bring back as part of our multi-year overseas contract, he provided our squad with experience, both with bat, ball, and in the field, and showed our squad what professionalism in World T20 cricket looks like.

He also provided a good balance to our bowling unit, and when paired with Nathan Ellis, we have two of the best death and powerplay bowlers in T20 cricket.

We also saw what CJ can do at his destructive best with the bat and know that he can play a role for us in the lower order when required, I am excited to see what he can do for our franchise over the coming seasons,” stated Beams.

Jordan joins Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Paddy Dooley, Nathan Ellis, Peter Hatzoglou, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Matthew Wade, Charlie Wakim, and Mac Wright as Hurricanes players under contract ahead of BBL|14.

Details on memberships for BBL|14 will be communicated to members in the coming week.
