The Hobart Hurricanes can now confirm their full squad of 18 players ahead of their upcoming KFC BBL|13 season with the signing of Liam Guthrie to bolster their fast-bowling stocks.

Guthrie, a left-arm fast bowler born in Western Australia, who currently plays for the Queensland Bulls, joins the Hurricanes from the Brisbane Heat where he played 7 matches, and took 6 wickets.

At 26-years-old, Guthrie is primed to play a role for the Hurricanes this season and will be looking to establish himself in the squad with his unique skillset and left-arm fast bowling.

Guthrie performed well for the Wynnum-Manly Sea Eagles during the KFC T20 Max in Queensland earlier this year and continues the maroon flavour to the Hobart Hurricanes squad this BBL season.

Guthrie joins with fellow Queenslanders Ben McDermott, Paddy Dooley, Nikhil Chaudhary, Sam Heazlett, and Assistant Coach James Hopes as the squad members who have been plying their trade in Queensland over the past few seasons.

Guthrie’s excitement to be playing for the Hobart Hurricanes this season is certainly evident, “I am very excited to be on board with the Hurricanes for the upcoming BBL season, I am keen to get down to Tasmania in front of a wonderful fanbase and get the campaign started.”

In a Sheffield Shield match for Queensland against Victoria last week, Guthrie starred with the ball taking 6/60 in their second innings.

Guthrie will be looking to take some of the positive momentum with the red ball to the shorter version of the game ahead of his move into the purple this season.

Hurricanes coach Jeff Vaughan is excited to see what Guthrie can provide the Hurricanes squad, “We are very happy to have Liam join our squad for the upcoming BBL season.”

“He has had a great year up in Queensland, and we think his left-arm bowling will provide us with another great option to use this season.”

The full Hobart Hurricanes KFC|BBL 13 squad includes, Corey Anderson (o/s), Iain Carlisle, Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Paddy Dooley, Nathan Ellis, Liam Guthrie, Sam Hain (o/s), Peter Hatzoglou, Sam Heazlett, Caleb Jewell, Chris Jordan (o/s), Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Billy Stanlake, Matthew Wade and Mac Wright.

The Hurricanes will get their BBL|13 campaign underway on December 11, when they take on the Sydney Sixers at home in Launceston.
