Cricket Tasmania is thrilled to announce Hydro Tasmania as the Principal Partner of the Hobart Hurricanes WBBL team. This announcement headlines the second year of a three-year deal between the organisations, which also sees Hydro as an Official Partner of the Hurricanes BBL team, and Official Coaches Partner across both the WBBL and BBL programs.
Since initially joining the Hurricanes family, Hydro have emphasised their commitment to sustainability, community engagement and female empowerment, as shown though initiatives such as the Hydro Tasmania Community Cricket Blitz, and now their partnership with the Hurricanes WBBL team.

“With a significant proportion of the WBBL being played in Tasmania this year, there really is no better time for any organisation to stand up and say ‘we wholeheartedly support Tasmanian women’s cricket’, and so we applaud Hydro for leading the way in this space.”
Hydro Tasmania Interim CEO, Ian Brooksbank, said it was an exciting time to support Tasmanian cricket.
“We’re in an incredibly fortunate position in Tasmania to be able to get together and watch our local teams compete and it’s our pleasure to support that in any way we can.
“Ever since we became an official partner of the Hobart Hurricanes BBL team in 2020 we’ve been looking forward to extending this arrangement with the WBBL team, as it reflects Hydro Tasmania’s own passion for inclusivity and equality, particularly in the STEM fields that were historically male-dominated.”
