The Hobart Hurricanes have signed another teenage young gun as they look towards WBBL|08, with talented all rounder, Hayley Silver-Holmes, committing to wearing purple for the next two seasons.
The 18-year-old has been a member of the Sydney Sixers squad for the past four seasons, making her WBBL debut in magenta when she was just 15.
Although unfortunately not being able to take to the field in WBBL|07 due to injury, Silver-Holmes has already amassed a 35-game career in the world’s premier T20 franchise competition.
Despite not being required much with the bat due to the Sixers’ consistently strong top-order, Silver-Holmes has been consistent with the ball, taking 13 wickets at an average of 28.62, including best bowling figures of 2-21.
After moving from Sydney to Hobart at the start of last season to join the Tasmanian Tigers program, Silver-Holmes said it made sense to go ‘all in’ and move where she played her T20 cricket to Tasmania as well.
“I’ve had such a great time my first year in Tassie,” Silver-Holmes said.
“Even though I was injured and in the rehab group for a lot of the pre-season and last WBBL season too, I learnt so much from being fully immersed in the program, and so it just makes sense for me to also continue my T20 cricket down here.
“It’s also a really good opportunity for me to work on and hopefully contribute with the bat more,” she added.
Silver-Holmes joins Nicola Carey, Maisy Gibson, Heather Graham, Ruth Johnston, Emma Manix-Geeves, Amy Smith, Molly Strano, Rachel Trenaman and Elyse Villani as players currently contracted for WBBL|08.
