Another familiar face will be returning to the Hobart Hurricanes, with Naomi Stalenberg signing a one-year contract extension with the club ahead of WBBL|08.

It will be Stalenberg’s third season in purple, after making the move to Tasmania to play for both the Hurricanes and the Tasmanian Tigers in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) at the beginning of the 2020-21 season.

Batting in the middle order, Stalenberg was the Hurricanes’ sixth-highest run-scorer in WBBL|07, tallying 151 runs at a strike rate of 93.21 from her 14 innings with the bat, which included three unbeaten stands.

A gun fielder, Stalenberg also tallied the most catches of any Hurricanes fielder for the season.

“I’m really excited to be back in purple for another season,” Stalenberg said of her re-signing.

“Towards the back end of last season, we really started to get some momentum as a group, and with the calibre of the signings we have announced so far for this season, I’m really excited for the cricket we’re going to play this year.

“Pre-season has been really good so far, and we’ve got a great program here in Hobart with a lot of support, so both personally but also as a team, I think we can transfer our success in the WNCL across to the WBBL this year.”

Stalenberg joins Nicola Carey, Maisy Gibson, Heather Graham, Ruth Johnston, Emma Manix-Geeves, Hayley Silver-Holmes, Amy Smith, Molly Strano, Rachel Trenaman and Elyse Villani as players currently contracted for WBBL|08.
