The Hobart Hurricanes have announced their penultimate signing, with a familiar face in Tom Rogers, who returning to the Hurricanes line up for KFC BBL|11.

The 27-year-old bowling all-rounder was part of the Hurricanes squad from BBL|07 through to BBL|09, before being signed by the Sydney Sixers for last year’s competition.

Originally from the ACT, Rogers made the move to Tasmania for domestic cricket opportunities in 2017, before earning his inaugural BBL contract.

The right-arm quick has had his fair share of success in Tasmania already – he was named in Cricket Australia’s Sheffield Shield Team of the Year in 2018, finishing as the Tigers’ joint leading wicket taker and averaging a shade under 25 with the bat, including an impressive knock of 80 that secured the Tasmanians a spot in the Shield final.

In his past tenure at the Hurricanes’, Rogers found success as a bowler, sporting best figures of 3-31 in purple – in a performance that elevating the Hurricanes into just their second league final – something he will look to build upon that in his second stint.

“To be back in purple with players that I know well, and in a program I enjoy and have had success in, is really exciting,” Rogers said.

“The Hurricanes’ have a really exciting squad this season with a good mix of national and international talent, so hopefully, when I get the opportunity, I can contribute with both the bat and the ball this season, and help the team take that next step.”

Rogers joins Scott Boland, Harry Brook (o/s), Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Peter Handscomb, Caleb Jewell, Josh Kann, Sandeep Lamichhane (o/s), Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Joel Paris, Wil Parker, D’Arcy Short, Matthew Wade and Mac Wright as players currently contracted for KFC BBL|11.

The Hurricanes will announce their final signing for KFC BBL|11 later this week.
