Sierra Leone Cricket:
The Sierra Leone Cricket Association is the official body of cricket in Sierra Leone and is an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council, Full Member of the Africa Cricket Association (ACA), Full Member of the North West Africa Cricket Council (NWACC) , a Member of the National Sport Authority of Sierra Leone (NSA) and the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Sierra Leone. The organization was established during November, 1942 but gained the status of being Affiliate Member of the ICC in 2000. Prior to these dates, Cricket was introduced in Sierra Leone by a British Artillery Regiment in 1898 at the Parade field and later moved to the Kingtom Cricket Oval in 1922.which is known as the Home of cricket in Sierra Leone. Cricket became part of the culture of majority of Sierra Leoneans and a truly national sport of winners, Sierra Leone participated in the Inter- Colonial tournament with the Gambia in 1935 under a British Captain.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The new Chief Executive Officer will provide expert strategic advice and visionary leadership to ensure Sierra Leone Cricket Association delivers on its mission for cricket to be “The favorite sport for all Sierra Leoneans”. This role will lead the management of all the intricate components of the Sierra Leone Cricket business, with a focus on building cricket excellence, strengthening organizational performance, and enhancing client awareness and stakeholder and community needs.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Chief Executive or senior executive with exceptional management and strategic leadership skills, who motivates and inspires teams to drive performance and innovation. Commercially astute with sound financial and business acumen, you will have entrepreneurial flair, a growth mindset and visionary approach. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are critical, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and negotiate „win-win‟ solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS: ________

  • Level, ideally with a specialty in Sport Management, Business Administration or a related degree.
  • An advanced degree in Sport Management or a related management field would be advantageous.
    Professional skills:
  • Passionate about increasing participation within a diverse cricketing landscape.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude with a flexible, open-minded approach and a willingness to embrace new ideas.
  • Knowledge of global „best practice‟ in the field of sports participation.
  • Ability to foster strong relations, communicate effectively and build effective working relationships with a broad range of groups and individual volunteers from across the entire cricketing community.
  • Capable of motivating, leading and empowering others to achieve goals.
  • Ability to operate with professionalism and integrity in challenging situations.
  • Exceptional planning, coordination and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to prepare and manage budgets, analyze financial records and prepare reports.

Knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years‟ experience in sports development at national or international level.
  • Proven track record and experience of designing and delivering sports curriculum/programs to children in a variety of settings, such as schools, camps
    and community programs, and at various age and skill levels.
  • Proven track record and experience of designing and delivering facilitator training to adult coaches/volunteers.
  • Strong understanding of theoretical and practical cricket issues, including familiarity with the international cricketing landscape, ICC rules & regulations and the Laws of the Game.
  • Significant cricket playing experience and/or cricket coaching qualifications would be advantageous.
  • A deep understanding of the challenges facing Associate Member cricket and/or the development of cricket in Sierra Leone would be advantageous.
