Purpose of the role:
Manage and lead the medical program for the Pakistan Cricket Board, to ensure best practice service provision and direction in alignment with PCB SM&S objectives.

The CMO will act for the PCB to maximise player availability, by overseeing all aspects of player welfare, accurate prevention, diagnosis of injury and illness, recovery, rehabilitation and return to play. With the rest of the multidisciplinary team, the CMO will help transform the PCB S&MC Department, NHPC and PCB Rehabilitation Centre into the best applicable High-Performance Model in International Cricket and Pakistan Sport.

Key Responsibilities
General Medical services for the players
• Oversee the assessment/screening, prehabilitation, injury management, illness and rehabilitation case management of
players in conjunction with the appropriate representative medical staff
• Ensure medical cover is available for all medical emergencies involving Players, team support staff and match officials at training sessions and matches
• Authorise the Return to Play of Players after consultation with respective team medical representatives
• Together with the PCB Medical staff, provide advice to coaches and the National Selection Panel regarding Player
availability
• Prompt management and referrals including providing access to specialist services
• Help setup a Medical advisory Committee, with whom to consult on difficult medical cases and other appropriate
stakeholders
• In conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team in all the representative teams, implement evidence-based and best
practice injury prevention programs, including advice on and injury risk advice to Players, coaches and the NHPC
• Responsible for developing and implementing the medical protocols of the PCB M&SS including:
o Medical and Musculoskeletal screening of The PCB centrally contracted players
o Emergency and medical management of players
o Cardiac and concussion Screening Policy
o Treatment, Medications and immunisations Policy
• Regular liaising with the PCB M&SS Managers, PCB’s MAC, Domestic Team Physiotherapists and Medical Officers; and
other Health Professionals
• Provide PCB with an injury surveillance annual report, including injury prevention strategies and maintain an injury
surveillance program for elite players

Leadership of Department
• Significant experience leading a multidisciplinary department within professional elite sport
• Oversee the recruitment and appointment of medical officers across PCB, with annual review and development of policies, ongoing monitoring of adherence across PCB and reporting on any breaches identified
• Liaise and lead the domestic medical staff on the medical management of players
• Coordinate the medical component of the PCB S&MS Conference annually

Governance and Anti-doping
o Maintain contemporaneous medical notes to an excellent standard
o Excellent applied working knowledge of the ICC Anti-doping and WADA regulations
o Ensure all player and staff interactions and all issued medications are recorded and detailed on the PCB software database
o Hold ultimate accountability for all aspects of Whereabouts, drug and doping player education and
information
o Be responsible for ordering, prescribing, distributing, carrying and keeping at all times secure, all medications for the Tours and tournaments in which they are acting as the tour medical officer, match day doctor etc
o Adherence to ICC/PCB’s Anti-Doping Code including ensuring that medical management conforms to PCB’s and the International Cricket Council’s Anti-Doping Codes
o Assist PCB in composing and constructing appropriate press releases regarding the injury status of Players, subject to confidentiality requirements
o Only conduct media interviews as requested and / or authorised by PCB MAC Department

Eligibility Criteria
• A medical practitioner of good standing with the relevant regulatory body and a full and valid medical registration
• PG Diploma / MSc in Sports Medicine
• At least 3 years’ Sports Medicine experience with elite athletes or teams
• Advanced emergency on-field management training qualification
• An ongoing record of relevant CPD over the past 12 months and experience in presentation at a CPD course or conference
• A Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine (desirable only)
• Demonstrable evidence of on-going CPD in the major specialty of own work portfolio
• Evidence of sound administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills at department head level
• Experience of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Operates with the utmost integrity and has high standards of ethics
• Outstanding player management and communication skills • Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels of seniority
• Proven ability to integrate into a team environment an inspire and develop a medical department
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the demands of elite Cricket
