An International Cricket Council (ICC) team is expected to visit Pakistan in the coming weeks to assess preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy, set to be hosted in Pakistan.
According to reports, the ICC delegation is likely to arrive within the next 10 days to evaluate the preparations and other key factors. Following the visit, the ICC is expected to announce the tournament schedule and ticket sales.
Earlier this year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) allocated Rs 12.80 billion for the renovation of three venues—Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, National Stadium in Karachi, and Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium—that are set to host the Champions Trophy.
However, India’s participation remains uncertain as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will follow the Indian government’s directives regarding their involvement in the tournament.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has stated that he is in contact with the BCCI about India’s participation in the Champions Trophy.
“Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan, we are in touch with the boards of the teams participating in the tournament,” Naqvi said.
“We are in touch with Jay Shah; there are no concerns about his becoming ICC Chairman. The ACC meeting is on September 8 and 9. I will not be able to attend the meeting and Salman Nasir will attend. The meeting will finalise matters related to the new president,” he added.
Last month, BCCI secretary Jay Shah became the new ICC chairman, requiring him to step down from his roles as ACC president and from the BCCI.
Last year, India declined to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, with their matches held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, while the rest of the tournament took place in Pakistan.
