The International Cricket Council (‘ICC’) is the global governing body for the sport, which administers all aspects of international cricket.
We are currently seeking a Development Officer to join the Americas Team based in our Colorado Springs office. The position will play a lead role in supporting the growth and development of cricket in the Americas from Game Development to High Performance for both female and male participants. Partnering with the ICC Full and Associate Members in the Americas, the individual will lead on ICC participation programmes including school programmes, softball cricket programmes and coach and umpire programmes.
These programmes are provided to the ICC Associate Members, to accelerate the global growth of participation, to improve the participation experience, increase player retention rates, and support the quality and development of players. Central to the success of these programmes is the training and accreditation of in-country workforces, as well as collaborating with Members to ensure robust participation pathways exist.
The individual will be required to help identify appropriate long-term development pathways and support the creation of successful High-Performance programmes that ultimately lead to International Competitiveness and success.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsibilities of the Development Officer include but are not limited to the following:
Training & Education – Lead on the delivery and implementation of Training and Education in the Americas region.
- Assist Member countries in building a sustainable Training and Education workforce and pathway to increase the quality and quantity of coaches and umpires
- Work in partnerships with Regional Master Educators to devise and deliver a regional tutor strategy
- Provide guidance and assistance to regional tutors on ICC Coach and Umpire courses
- Provide leadership on Women and Girl’s Training and Education growth strategies in the Americas
- Equip Members to deliver ICC Coach and Umpire courses
- Share best practice initiatives and resources with the Americas members
- Lead the region on partnerships between the Americas and Cricket West Indies on Training & Education.
Game Development – Partner with Associate Members in the Americas to increase participation, retention rates and the development of players
- Support Members to create an environment that fosters the delivery of fun first experiences with criiio products and principles
- Support Members to develop and deliver an inclusive player and participation pathway
- Provide leadership on Women and Girl’s growth strategies in the Americas
- Promote and share ICC accessible playing formats
- Share best practice initiatives and resources with the Americas members
- Work with Members to help them identify appropriate long-term development pathways
High Performance
- Support Members with the ICC HP framework
- Collaborate with Members to provide support on the development of HP strategies
- Partner with stakeholders to support the delivery of Member’s High-Performance programmes
- Share best practice initiatives and resources with the Americas members
- Seek opportunities for members (Players, Coach and Umpire) to participate in Domestic Franchise Competitions
Member Services & Support – Provide desktop support to all ICC Associate Members in the Americas on Game Development and High Performance – Share best practice, initiatives, and resources.
- Support all Americas members in creating an infrastructure that fosters the delivery of high-quality cricket programmes, including an effective and fit for purpose workforce
- Guide and mentor Members on all ICC Game Development and High-Performance products
- Devise and deliver Game Development and High-Performance webinars to the Americas members
- Facilitate relationships between ICC Associate members and Cricket West Indies
- Provide a platform for peer-to-peer learning within the Americas members
Global Projects – Be a strong contributor to the ICC Global Development Team
- Connect regularly with counterparts in other locations on global initiatives and sharing of good practice
- Deliver key projects, regionally and globally, that derives from the ICC Growth Global Strategy
Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area
- Proven expertise in game development and high-performance with good understanding of wider aspects within the sports industry
- Experience in managing sports participation programmes
- Proven experience in training and education courses
- A strong understanding of the game of cricket
- Experience in project/programme planning, design and budget management
- Understanding of good governance and administration
- Maintain a high degree of integrity
- Ability to work with stakeholders from different backgrounds across cultural and national identities
- Disciplined and value driven
- Sound analysis and judgement and attention to detail
- Strong decision-making ability
- Self-motivated with a high work ethic, ability to solve problems and dependable
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including ability to communicate with people at all levels
- Ability to plan, organise and work effectively on your own and as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stress
Conditions of Employment
- Based in the ICC Americas Office in Colorado Springs, Colorado
