ICC seeks BCCI’s input following PCB’s objections to the 2025 Champions Trophy hybrid plan

Must Read

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is working to address concerns raised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about India potentially withdrawing from visiting Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Following the PCB’s formal communication questioning India’s stance on the hybrid model, the ICC has approached the BCCI for clarification.

According to Tribune, the PCB has engaged with other cricket boards to share concerns about the Indian board’s position, creating challenges for the ICC. Pakistan remains firmly opposed to the hybrid model and has voiced dissatisfaction, complicating the situation for the governing body.

The ICC is expected to take several days to prepare a detailed response to the PCB‘s inquiries. Reports suggest that after Pakistan outlined its concerns about India’s refusal, the ICC initiated discussions with the BCCI to clarify the situation and gather information to respond to the PCB’s email.

The Indian Cricket Board is also expected to provide a written statement after assessing the legal implications. The ICC’s formal reply to the PCB will be based on this statement. Meanwhile, ICC officials are consulting with other cricketing nations to explore solutions to the ongoing issue between Pakistan and India.

This development comes amid growing tensions over the hybrid model, adding complexity to Champions Trophy planning and prompting the ICC to seek a resolution that satisfies all parties.

The 2025 tournament is set to take place in Pakistan in February-March, marking the country’s first major international event since 2008.
