Already a significant and valued partner in the cricketing space, The Willowton Group, manufacturers of Sunfoil Pure Sunflower Oil, rallies behind Lions Cricket in their ongoing efforts to invest, enhance and improve the game at grassroots level.

Lions Cricket are delighted to announce our renewed partnership with The Willowton Group and their flagship brand, Sunfoil. The three-year partnership, commencing immediately, will primarily be focused at grassroots development, running The Sunfoil Township Cricket Tournament.

The event will host teams from the Lions Cricket Hub program from the areas of Soweto, Dobsonville, Sedibeng, Alexandra, Kagiso/West Rand, South and Central.

“The Sunfoil Township Tournament is of significant importance to Lions Cricket – it is after all our youth that powers and determines our future – and this is where passions are ignited, talent is tailored, and dreams are realised. The inclusion of girls in this event signifies the importance of equity in our pipeline system and we are excited with the expansion in 2022 as we grow this wonderful flagship event on our calendar” says CEO of Lions Cricket, Jono Leaf-Wright.

The partnership extends beyond the tournament and will see the powerhouse brand Sunfoil, have further presence in the iconic Imperial Wanderers Stadium and amongst the Lions Cricket assets all round.

Deon Calthorpe, Managing Executive: Sales and Marketing of the Willowton Group said: “The Willowton Group is delighted to be involved in the Sunfoil Township Tournament, an event that spans far and wide and is a breeding ground for young talent from local townships – many of whom have come through the Lions Cricket system and represented the Province at National events. It’s bound to be cracking cricket that unearths new talent and is most certainly something that we’re excited  to continue to be associated with.”

“We’re thrilled with The Willowton Group’s continuous backing and support through the Sunfoil partnership – because I assure you, without partners such as the Willowton Group, we will not see sublime efforts, passions and talents come to fruition,” concludes Leaf-Wright.
