IPL Auction Day 2: Royals buy 13-year-old Suryavanshi

Must Read

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the most expensive player on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 mega auction, purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for ₹10.75 crore.

However, the spotlight also shone on 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was acquired by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.10 crore, making history as the youngest-ever player in IPL auctions.

The auction also marked significant moments in IPL history. David Warner, who has been a constant in the league since 2009 (barring 2018 due to suspension), went unsold after retiring from international cricket earlier this year.

Similarly, New Zealand legend Kane Williamson and England’s James Anderson found no takers during the accelerated auction phase.

Day 1 of the auction had already delivered blockbuster deals, including Rishabh Pant setting an all-time IPL record with his ₹27 crore acquisition by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Punjab Kings secured Shreyas Iyer for ₹26.75 crore just moments earlier. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders made headlines with their ₹23.75 crore purchase of Venkatesh Iyer.

In other notable moves, Faf du Plessis joined Delhi Capitals, potentially paving the way for Virat Kohli to reclaim the RCB captaincy.
