Islamabad United partners with Iqra University for PSL8

Islamabad United is a Pakistani Twenty20 cricket team competing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Based in Islamabad, the team was established in 2015 for the league's inaugural season. It is owned by Leonine Global Investments through Leonine Global Sports, run by Amna Naqvi and Ali Naqvi.

Islamabad United, the most successful franchise in HBL PSL history and the winner of the first and third editions of the tournament, is happy to announce that Iqra University will be the official Youth Sports Partner for the franchise for PSL 8.

Iqra University, which has the vision to promote youth sports in Pakistan and to boost the country’s image as a sports and peace-loving country, will be joining hands with Islamabad United for PSL 8. The signing ceremony between the two organizations took place on Monday December 5th 2022, at the Iqra University Islamabad Campus (Chak Shahzad). The two organizations had previously partnered for the PSL 6 in 2021.

The event was attended by Iqra University Co-Founder and Chancellor Ms. Erum Lakhani, Vice-President Dr. Muhammad Islam, Executive Director/Special Assistant To Chancellor/Youth Mentor Mr. Usman Butt, Director Academy Schools Mr. Muhammad Junaid, Director Industrial Linkages Barrister Rizwan Bari and Director Campus Mr. Abdul Waheed. From Islamabad United the captain of the franchise Mr. Shadab Khan and the Assistant Coach Saeed Ajmal were joined by CEO Mr. Ahsan Latif for the occasion. The Islamabad United captain and staff were greeted by all the senior faculty members and presented with souvenirs.

At the event Islamabad United representatives appreciated the efforts of Iqra University for creating a state-of-the-art educational facility and supporting sports in Pakistan. Furthermore, the representatives of Islamabad United said that such a step from Iqra University was a great effort in not only unearthing and polishing the talent in Pakistan but also providing an avenue for the youth to draw out their potential.

Many sports enthusiasts including Iqra University students, dignitaries and guests participated in the event and took selfies with the two Islamabad United stars and took their autographs. The event finished with a dynamic question and answer session with Shadab Khan and Saeed Ajmal.
