Islamabad, 26 January 2020 – Islamabad United, the winners of the first and third editions of the Pakistan Super League, are proud to announce that they will be continue their partnership with The Citizens Foundation (TCF) for the fifth edition of the HBL PSL.
TCF is one of the leading organizations in the field of education for the less privileged in Pakistan. Currently they serve more than 250,000 students in over 1,500 schools all over the country. In 2017 UNESCO honoured TCF’s adult literacy program (Aagahi) with the Confucius Prize for Literacy.
Regarding the partnership, Ali Naqvi, the owner of the franchise said, “We have always believed that our duty and responsibility to this country goes beyond our immediate work. We’ve taken pride in being a socially conscious organization, from our support of WWF-Pakistan to the work with our Women Empowerment Campaign, to our continuous association with TCF, we have always believed in presenting and promoting the best that Pakistan has to offer. TCF is one of the most admirable organizations in the country – the work they’ve done over the past two decades, the lives they’ve changed, is there for all to see. Our players have visited TCF Schools over the past couple of years and this has only emboldened our partnership. Their belief in youth empowerment and education is something that they share with us, and it’s something that we have tried to inculcate even in our players and staff. Thus, this is a natural fit for us and we feel proud to continue our association with TCF.”
Mushtaq Chhapra, Co-Founder and Director TCF, said “The PSL is the biggest brand in Pakistan, and we’re happy that we will continue our association with the most successful team in the PSL. Over the past few years our partnership has been a fruitful one: Islamabad United players have visited our various campuses in Lahore and Rawalpindi, and been an inspiration for our students. Our aim is to remove the barriers of class and privilege to make citizens of Pakistan agents of change, and no one encapsulates that more than our national cricketers. Thus, we’re glad that we are continuing our partnership with Islamabad United.”
