A surprise visitor was present during India’s crucial Women’s T20 World Cup victory over Pakistan. Jasprit Bumrah, a key player in the men’s T20 World Cup triumph in the West Indies earlier this year, was spotted in the crowd, where broadcast cameras captured him supporting his teammates.
Bumrah, who recently played a significant role in India’s Test series win against Bangladesh, taking 11 wickets over two matches, was rested for the ongoing T20 series against Bangladesh. He used this break to travel to Dubai for this high-profile match.
During India’s chase, Bumrah was seen giving an interview to broadcasters in the stands. He was instrumental in the men’s team’s successful 2024 World Cup campaign, taking 15 wickets in eight matches, including a standout performance in the final, where his bowling helped secure an unexpected victory against South Africa.
In the women’s match against Pakistan, India desperately needed a win after losing their opening match to New Zealand. A strong bowling performance restricted Pakistan to 105-8, with notable contributions from Arundhati Reddy and Shreyanka Patil.
Although India aimed to score quickly to improve their net run rate, they opted for a cautious approach on a challenging batting wicket. Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur anchored the chase, ensuring a secure victory with seven balls to spare.
India managed only five boundaries during their innings, choosing a steady strategy to clinch the win. They currently sit fourth in the table, trailing Pakistan on net run rate. The outcome of the match between Australia and New Zealand could influence the group standings as the tournament progresses. India faces a crucial match against Sri Lanka, who defeated them in the Asia Cup final earlier this year, before concluding the group stage with a high-stakes encounter against Australia.
