Karachi Kings’ skipper Imad Wasim and right-handed batter Tayyab Tahir have been rewarded for their brilliant performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight as both have been named in the national team’s squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan.
The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee Najam Sethi and chief selector Haroon Rasheed held a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium and named a 15-member squad for the T20 series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, scheduled from March 24 to 27.
Meanwhile, Kings’ skipper Imad, who enjoyed a phenomenal season with the bat, has also been named in the squad. The all-rounder accumulated 404 runs at an astounding average of 134.7 and 170-plus strike rate. He also remained unbeaten on seven instances.
Young opening batter Tayyab, who was also among the fresh-look squad, had a remarkable campaign with the bat too as he gathered 137 runs in five matches with the help of two magnificent half-centuries.
It is worth mentioning that the selection committee opted to rest key players including all-format captain Babar Azam from the upcoming Afghanistan assignment in a bid to prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and provide an opportunity to the youngsters.
All-rounder Shadab Khan will lead the new-look squad, which included four uncapped players Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub, Zaman Khan and Kings’ Tayyab.
