The bowling coach and president of Karachi Kings, Wasim Akram is confident that his bowlers will give a tough time to the opponents in the upcoming fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Akram, while talking in a show on PSL’s official youtube channel, said that teams win in the T20 format with bowlers and Kings is having all the ingredients to be a potent bowling attack.
“I think we have a strong bowling attack with the likes of Mohammad Amir, Chris Jordan, Amir Yamin, Liam Plunkett, Usama Mir, and young Umer Khan,” he said. “Jordan and Amir can bowl some aggressively in death overs while we have good wicket-taking options in Umer Khan, Amir Yamin, and Plunkett. Our skipper Imad Wasim is also an all-rounder so he is a plus point for us in bowling,” former cricketer added.
Talking about Kings’ batting pack, Akram said that the inclusion of Alex Hales, Sharjeel Khan, and Cameron Delport has brought a lot of positivity to the team. “We have a strong top-order batting. Hales, Sharjeel, Babar, Delport all are very good competitors on the field. Then, if we come at lower order so we have Iftikhar Ahmed, another power-hitter, Imad, and Rizwan. Overall, the combination is perfect,” he said.
Upon being asked, Akram praised head coach Dean Jones and said that former Australian cricketer will make a major impact in Kings’ camp. “He knows Pakistan cricket very well. He is aware of each and every player on the team. For me, his presence in the camp will boost the confidence of the players,” he concluded.
It must be noted here that the fifth episode of the league is scheduled from February 20 to March 22 in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Kings will play their first match against Peshawar Zalmi on February 21 at National Stadium Karachi.
