Kent County Cricket Club is one of the eighteen first-class county clubs in England and Wales, representing the historic county of Kent. Founded on 6 December 1870 through the merger of two teams, Kent has played top-class cricket since the early 18th century and has competed in the County Championship since its inception in 1890. Kent Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of seam bowler Akeem Jordan for the Vitality County Championship fixtures against Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Hampshire and Nottinghamshire.

A West Indian international, Jordan debuted in 2023 against the United Arab Emirates. The 29-year-old fast-bowler has taken 67-wickets in 19-First-Class games for Barbados, as well as featuring in the Caribbean Premier League for the Barbados Royals and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

On joining Kent, Akeem Jordan said: “I am delighted to join Kent and I’m really looking forward to getting started. I understand the importance of the upcoming matches, and I’m fully committed to playing my part in helping the squad finish strongly.  I can’t wait to meet everyone at the Club and get a chance to play in front of the Kent Members and supporters.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, said: “We are really pleased to have added Akeem into the squad. He is undoubtably an exciting talent and is a proven wicket taker.  We have identified Akeem as a player who has the ability to help us execute our strategies as we target maintaining our Division One status.”

Akeem Jordan will join Charlie Stobo as Kent’s second overseas option, who departs on 16 September to Western Australia for the start of his league season. Beyers Swanepoel has left Kent following his selection for South Africa A in their four-day series against Sri Lanka A.

ECB Playing Regulations allow for Counties to have four overseas players registered at any one point, with two permitted in a Playing XI.
