Lions Cricket aims to foster a deep passion for cricket by advancing the sport through high-quality teams, nurturing club and school cricket, and providing a premier stadium experience. The organization also seeks to use cricket to drive inclusive and sustainable economic, social, and environmental change.

Lions Cricket are delighted to announce their teams for the upcoming youth weeks in December 2021. The various age group teams will take part in a host of youth cricket weeks around the country throughout December. The five provincial teams include the u16 girls, u19 girls, u16 boys, u18 boys and u17 rural team.

The Khaya Majola u19 week will take place in Potchefstroom from 17-22 December 2021. An exciting time for the boys, taking on their counter parts from all over South Africa,  the team will be led by new framework coach, Ahmed Nawab who commented; “I am looking forward to the challenge and cannot wait to see the boys on the field after extensive preparations.”

The girl’s u19 week will take place from 16-20 December in Paarl. and will be led by batting all-rounder, Sarah Nettleton and bowling department led by rising star Refilwe Moncho.

The Rural u17 week will be hosted in Durban from 13-17 December were our players will be show casing their talents against the rest of the best in the country.

The two u16 weeks will take place over the same period from 13-17 December with the boys week taking place in Tshwane and the girls making the trip to Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape. It is an exciting time for two of our new framework coaches, Minenhle Magubane (boys u16) and Teboho Ntsukunyane (girls u16) as they lead our teams.

“It is a memorable time for all involved including players, team managers, coaches and parents. We wish all our teams everything of the best during their various tournaments. Play hard, play fair and remember that hard work does pay off,” smiles Reuben Mandlazi, Cricket Services Manager of Lions Cricket.

Gary Moos, Youth and Schools Coordinator for Lions Cricket says; “It’s not the team with the best players that win. It’s the players with the best team that win! Good luck and most importantly have fun and stay safe.”
