It’s the eve of the team’s resumption of their CSA Four-Day Series campaign, and the DP World Lions are safely settled and ready for their away fixture against the ITEC Knights at the Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein.

Assistant coach Jimmy Kgamadi says that the team is excited to return to the longer format of the game post many of them being involved in the SA20 campaign and with all players returning, a second win is essential.

“Prior to the SA20, we played two CSA 4-Day Domestic Series games – one against the North West Dragons which we won, and one against Titans which we unfortunately lost. Multiple Lions participated in the thrill a minute white ball campaign, no doubt gaining in confidence and experience. But we now regroup as a team and into the swing of the 4 Day format with a solid squad inclusive too of our all-important coaching staff. The team is positive, delighted to be back in the Pride and it’s important for us that we represent our fans, our badge, the #PrideOfJozi with the passion and high standards that we have set ourselves and become accustomed to.”

Captain Dominic Hendricks says the team is excited to get back onto the park, and with 5 games in 5 weeks, it will be a busy period.

“There is a lot of cricket still to be played, and plenty still to unfold. I believe it will be a tight season, with plenty of teams playing competitive cricket and thus in the running. We need to start well this week and gain momentum – past experiences have told us that you need to start well, get on a roll and maximize as much as you can. If we can secure a few good results, we should be in the running as we head into the final stretch of the competition. I’m looking forward to playing at Mangaung Oval – historically it’s a good wicket to bat on, but let’s see what has been prepared. After this, is the Warriors who have played some solid cricket of late with 3 from 3. We are all looking forward to the games ahead, with the end goal being to end the season on a high and lift another CSA trophy.”
