The DP World Wanderers Stadium is one of Africa’s premier multipurpose stadiums, having hosted sporting events, concerts, church rallies, festivals and many more events of the same world class standard. Time and time again, the stadium is awarded the Opening and/or Closing ceremonies of global events, attended by thousands and watched by millions – all due to the excellent standard set by those on the ground.
Set for 3 and 4 December 2022, the Africa Cares Tennis Challenge will no longer take place at our stadium, explains Jono Leaf-Wright;
“As a stadium, we pride ourselves on delivering events unrivalled in execution. I want to make it clear that the DP World Wanderers Stadium served only as a host to this tennis event – the organisation of the event itself never lay with us and we are extremely disappointed that we have been let down by the organisers. As stadium management we cannot risk reputational damage and as a result will not host this event at our iconic venue this weekend.”
Lions Cricket remains fully supportive of the initiative and the intention of the Africa Cares Tennis Challenge and stands side by side with all campaigns fighting against Gender-Based Violence. As a stadium we will continue to host such sporting events that create hope and make a meaningful impact to society and the lives of many.
The DP World Wanderers remains Africa’s premier sporting and events destination and has many other great events lined up. All guests that visit can rest assured of a great experience with memorable moments that last forever.
