The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is approaching, and preparations are in full swing. All franchises are refining their strategies as the BCCI has directed them to submit lists of retained and released players.
October 31st is the deadline for franchises to finalize their retained player lists. Many franchises have reportedly completed their selections, along with details on retention fees ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
According to reports, the IPL 2025 auction is expected to be a high-profile event, with several top players up for bidding. Big Indian names like KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer (in discussions with KKR), and Rishabh Pant are likely to feature in the auction.
Additionally, several major overseas players, such as Andre Russell, David Warner, and Faf du Plessis, are anticipated to be part of the 2025 auction, raising stakes higher than ever. It’s widely expected that the record for the highest bid could be broken.
Financially, the 2025 auction will surpass previous editions, as the BCCI has raised the team budget from INR 100 crore to INR 120 crore, the highest in IPL history.
The minimum bid for players has also increased, with a substantial hike of INR 10 lakh. Under the new rules, the minimum bid for a player in IPL 2025 is set at INR 30 lakh, up from the previous minimum of INR 20 lakh. Senior journalist Mohsin Kamal confirmed this update on Twitter.
