The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is gearing up for the highly anticipated player draft for its 10th edition, scheduled to take place on January 11, 2025, in Gwadar, Balochistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released a preliminary list of foreign players available for selection, although updates may follow. Confirmations from star players such as David Warner, Steven Smith, and Kane Williamson are pending, while their names are included in the current list.
Participation of Chris Woakes and Jonny Bairstow depends on obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Players from all Test-playing nations, except India, are eligible to join the draft.
This season will feature the highest-ever payouts in PSL history for star players. The Platinum category includes notable names like David Warner, Shaun Abbott, Steven Smith, Mustafizur Rahman, Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson, Chris Woakes, Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Tom Curran, and Tom Kohler-Cadmore. Players such as Shakib Al Hasan, Kusal Mendis, and David Willey are listed in the Diamond category, with Usman Khawaja and Levery Evans in Gold. Mohammad Nabi and Tanveer Sangha also feature in the Diamond category.
The draft boasts a diverse pool of players, with entries from nearly all cricketing nations. Big names like Angelo Mathews, Litton Das, Temba Bavuma, and Dinesh Chandimal join up-and-coming stars and seasoned campaigners. This rich blend of talent promises a highly competitive and entertaining PSL season.
