Mastercard, a global leader in payment technologies, has introduced a new initiative called “Payments Ka Powerplay” to educate Indian consumers on the benefits and safety of using cards for everyday transactions.
The campaign features renowned cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the brand ambassador. Dhoni will use cricket analogies to simplify card payment concepts, aiming to dispel myths and emphasize the advantages of card usage.
Gautam Aggarwal, Division President, South Asia at Mastercard, stated, “The ‘Payments Ka Powerplay’ campaign is an intervention towards reshaping commerce in India by encouraging cardholders to go with card payment options that are highly convenient, secure, and rewarding… This initiative will play a role in addressing the misinformation around card payments, promoting the usage of card control settings and generating widespread awareness about the benefits of tokenised transactions.”
The campaign will feature a series of TV ads, digital content, and interactive retail events, focusing on educating consumers about secure tokenised transactions, card control features, and purchase protection associated with card payments.

The company has a strong history of sports sponsorships, partnering with organizations like McLaren Racing, UEFA, Copa America 2024, and Roland Garros 2024.
This partnership adds to MS Dhoni’s extensive endorsement portfolio, which includes brands like Garuda Aerospace, Platinum Guild International, Citroen India, and Etihad Airways. The collaboration with Mastercard further highlights Dhoni’s ongoing marketability and influence.
