MCC FOUNDATION (MCCF) IS TODAY BEGINNING ITS BIG GIVE CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE, IN WHICH ALL DONATIONS TO THE FOUNDATION ARE DOUBLED BETWEEN NOW AND 12PM ON TUESDAY 5 DECEMBER.

After reaching its target of £80,000 last year, MCCF has set the aim of raising £100,000 which it will put towards projects in the UK, Lebanon, Nepal, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

MCCF helps individuals to access opportunities to fulfil their potential in life by using cricket as a platform for positive change, and the Foundation has laid out how the money raised from the challenge would be budgeted.

Half of the £100,000 campaign target will be dedicated to the running of MCCF’s 126 cricket Hubs across some of the most deprived areas of the UK, which help young state-educated players develop their cricket skills, whilst also supporting participants to feel happier and more confident in their day-to-day life.

Another, £30,000 would be allocated to the Foundation’s Lebanon project, funding six hours of coaching and match play every week for a year for 80 Syrian refugees.

The remaining £20,000 would be split evenly across community Hubs and interschool competitions in Nepal, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

The Big Give is a match funding organisation that utilises a network of funders (philanthropists, foundations or corporates) to equal donations to charities.

This challenge is the latest part of a fundraising push to commemorate MCC Foundation’s 30th anniversary year. The England v Australia women’s T20I fixture at Lord’s in July was dedicated to the Foundation.
