Melbourne Renegades are an Australian professional men's Twenty20 franchise cricket club based in Melbourne, Australia. They compete in the Australian Twenty20 cricket competition, the Big Bash League.

The Melbourne Renegades (and Melbourne Stars) have confirmed they will withdraw from this year’s TIO Strike League competition following the extension of Melbourne’s current lockdown.

While both clubs were committed to finding solutions to attend, the current landscape means those options are no longer viable.

In a joint statement, Melbourne Stars Interim GM Blair Crouch and Melbourne Renegades GM James Rosengarten said:

“We’re obviously disappointed that the Academy sides at both clubs are unable to compete in this year’s edition of the TIO Strike League. We are strong supporters of the Strike League and the playing opportunities the Cricket365 program provides to southern states in particular.”

“We’d like to extend our thanks to NT Cricket for their planning support to date and we look forward to being able to compete next year without the challenges we’re currently experiencing.”
