The Melbourne Renegades can confirm the Club has parted ways with BBL Head Coach David Saker, effective immediately.

The decision was made as part of the Club’s ongoing review into the BBL|13 season.

Melbourne Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten said:

“The Renegades as a Club, and our members and fans, have very high expectations. Our performance this season did not align with our commitment to achieving ultimate success.

“It was therefore in the Club’s best interests that we make changes that give us the best chance of success moving forward – that includes a change of leadership in our senior coaching position.”

Saker first joined the Renegades in 2015 before returning for a second term in 2021. Saker was contracted through to the end of the 2024/25 BBL campaign, but his tenure has now ended as the Club sets its sights on BBL|14 and beyond.

“On behalf of the Club and our players, I’d like to thank David for his service to the Renegades across four seasons. We recognise the energy and experience he has brought to the role, and we thank him for his efforts and passion.”

The Renegades will now embark on its search for a new BBL Head Coach to drive its exciting playing list forward, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Club.
