Almost one year since its last game at Marvel Stadium, the Melbourne Renegades will finally get the chance to play in front of its home fans on Wednesday against the Melbourne Stars.

The Renegades have played the first 11 matches of BBL|10 on the road, travelling to six cities along the way.

Melbourne Renegades General Manager David Lever said the chance to play home games with crowds is a great reward for the club’s loyal fans.

“There is no more passionate and loyal fan base in the BBL than the Renegades supporters and I know the players are desperate to give our supporters plenty to cheer about throughout the remaining matches of the home and away season,” Lever said.

“Our Victorian fans have endured a year with strict lockdowns and great uncertainty, but we know sport provides a great outlet for families.

“We thank the Victorian Government and Marvel Stadium for their help in creating an environment that will enable us to play in front of up to 15,000 fans for each of our matches in Melbourne.

“We encourage supporters to book tickets early to ensure they don’t miss out.”

The match will also mark the first time the Renegades BBL team has played a match at Marvel Stadium with the backing of Principal Partner, Liberty.

The non-bank lender has been part of the club’s WBBL program for two seasons and extended its partnership in October to also support the BBL team.

Liberty CEO James Boyle said: “We’ve been proud to partner with the Melbourne Renegades in this milestone year for the Big Bash League and have followed the side closely as they’ve travelled across the country.”

“We’ve no doubt the return to their home ground – and home crowd – will give the Gades the confidence boost they need to bring the season to a strong finish.”

“We’ll be there to help welcome them home too and we look forward to bringing our own free-thinking game-day activities to boost the on-ground atmosphere. Get on Red!”
