The Melbourne Renegades are thrilled to welcome Wade Seccombe as its new T20 Performance Manager.

Fresh after winning the BBL|13 title with the Brisbane Heat, Seccombe will oversee the Renegades’ BBL and WBBL high-performance programs in the full-time position established as part of the Renegades’ ongoing review into the 2023/24 season.

After an extensive three-month recruitment process, the Renegades could not look past Seccombe’s wealth of experience to bolster its program and help drive the Club forward.

He will work across a range of areas within the Renegades high-performance program including T20 skill development and training, talent identification and pathways, season preparation and conditioning. He will also take on a role as an assistant coach in both the BBL and WBBL.

“I’m absolutely pumped for opportunity and keen to play a big role in the future of this Club,” Seccombe said.

“The Renegades’ BBL and WBBL lists are in really good shape, both have a quality mix of experience and youth, so there’s plenty to work with and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in with an eye towards the next summer of cricket.

“I’ll forever look back on my time with the Heat fondly, winning last year’s title was such a thrill. After getting a taste for it, I’m determined to keep winning and achieve the same with Renegades.”

Seccombe joins his former Bulls protégé and BBL|13 title-winning clubmate Josh Brown, who joined the Renegades in April.

“I feel very fortunate to continue working with Josh – the Renegades have a good one in ‘Browny’.”

Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said Seccombe’s appointment was a massive coup for the Club.

“We are particularly happy to land someone of Wade’s skill and experience at the Renegades. The creation of the new role of Renegades T20 Performance Manager will be a big plus for our Club and to land the reigning BBL title winning coach, to work year-round for us, is massive.

Wade is an outstanding cricket person, with an incredible knowledge of the modern T20 game. We look forward to seeing his positive impact on our BBL and WBBL playing groups over coming seasons.”

Seccombe enjoyed a stellar career spanning 12 years with Queensland, winning five first-class and two one-day titles with the gloves. He took a combined 642 dismissals across the domestic competitions which is the second best by a Queenslander wicketkeeper.

He was appointed head coach of the Queensland Bulls in 2017, before overseeing the state’s entire men’s program by taking the reins of the Heat for the past two seasons.

Seccombe will commence his new role with the Melbourne Renegades in June.
