The Melbourne Renegades will play five matches in Melbourne during the BBL|10 season.

Cricket Australia has finalised a fixture for the season that will see the competition play matches in Melbourne during January.

The Renegades will play five matches in the club’s home town, with three to be played at Marvel Stadium and two at the MCG.

As announced earlier this month, the Renegades will open their season with matches in Hobart, Canberra and the Gold Coast, with the first match to be played against the Perth Scorchers on December 12.

Once January 2021 arrives, the Gades will play matches on the Gold Coast, in Perth and Adelaide before finishing with the five matches in Melbourne.

The health and safety of fans, players and staff will be the priority.

Throughout the season, Renegades matches will be broadcast on Channel 7 and Fox Cricket. Members can receive a special Foxtel offer for the BBL season here.

Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s Head of Big Bash Leagues, said the ability to pull together the BBL|10 season was a combined effort from various parties during such a unique situation.

“The League is delighted to confirm the boldest schedule in Australian sport since the pandemic began by committing to take matches to every club’s home market in KFC BBL|10,” Dobson said.

“This schedule is a testament to the strength of the League and ensures our fans around the country will get the chance to see their KFC BBL Clubs in action on home soil.

“We’d like to thank all federal, state and territory governments, our KFC BBL clubs, state and territory associations, the players and Australian Cricketers’ Association, broadcasters Seven, Foxtel, Kayo, SEN and commercial partners KFC, BKT, Toyota and Sanitarium for their support as we deliver a safe and successful competition for our fans across the country.”

Why are there no games in Geelong?
This is due to Cricket Australia’s desire to minimise movement around the state and therefore they decided matches would be held at two venues in Victoria (Marvel Stadium and the MCG).

Our commitment to Geelong remains and we intend to host games in Geelong in BBL|11.

Why do we have an ‘away’ game against Brisbane Heat at Marvel Stadium and why do we have a ‘home’ game at the MCG?
These are just some of the many vagaries across sporting fixtures this year. Essentially, every BBL club will be the ‘home’ team for seven games, so the Heat will be the nominated ‘home’ team when we play against them at Marvel Stadium. Members will still be able to access the match as if it were a home game.

The ‘home’ game at the MCG is part of a blockbuster finish to the BBL season. Cricket Australia has scheduled three games that day, including two at the MCG. This also makes life easier for broadcasters. More information about access to this game will be provided in the coming weeks.
