Cricket Australia has announced the WBBL Contracting Embargo has lifted, with clubs now able to enter into binding player contracting discussions for Weber WBBL|08.
A key change to the Contracting Rules is the removal of any restrictions regarding the number of players a club can sign from the same home board (country) in WBBL.
Previously, clubs could only sign a maximum of two players from a home board.
Clubs can sign a maximum of five overseas players – whether as a primary or a replacement player – with a maximum of three allowed in their primary squad of 15 at any one time.
The Renegades enjoyed a breakout campaign in WBBL|07 under the leadership of first-year coach Simon Helmot and first-year captain Sophie Molineux.
Despite spending the entire season outside of Victoria due to fixtures impacted by Covid, the team finished in second spot on the table before being defeated in the finals by the Brisbane Heat.
Fixtures for WBBL|08 will be announced closer to the season.
