English batter Eve Jones will return to the Melbourne Renegades this summer, signing on as an overseas replacement player.

The left-hander will join the Renegades for the start of the tournament, with India captain Harmanpreet Kaur having a delayed start to WBBL|08 due to international commitments.

Jones played alongside Sophie Molineux in The Hundred for the Birmingham Phoenix this season, and captains the Central Sparks in English domestic cricket.

Last season, Jones was the Renegades’ third-highest run-scorer – scoring 236 runs in WBBL|07, including a top score of 62.

The 30-year-old was used as an opener and through the middle order last year and provides another strong batting option for the Renegades.

“We’re pleased to have Eve returning to the Renegades. She was a strong contributor for us on the field last year and offers flexibility with where she can slot into our batting order,” Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said.

“Eve already has great relationships within our group and an understanding of the way we want to play as a team, which will help her hit the ground running.

The Renegades will begin their WBBL|08 campaign against the Adelaide Strikers on Sunday in Mackay.

Melbourne Renegades memberships and tickets to all matches are now on sale. Tickets are priced at $10 for Adults and free for Under 18s.
